In the afternoon of October 5th, 2011 Steve Jobs, passed away in his home, due to respiratory arrest, from the pancreatic cancer he had.
Before that, he had resigned from Apple for health reasons, and then it became clear to the public that his time on earth was almost over. Many mourned his death and flew flags half staff outside of Disney, apple, Microsoft, and many other companies, some people even held iPad candle tributes outside of apple headquarters. The pancreatic cancer Jobs had before he died wasn't usually fatal, but when he refused modern medicine and wanted to treat himself with eastern medicine, the cancer went mostly untreated and proved to overcome the alternative treatments he took. Even with a pancreas transplant in 2004, the disease proved to be too much for Job's body but not his mind. Even with death staring him straight in the eyes for years, Steve never took a bad attitude about the cancer and even said that the cancer "...drove the fear of failure and embarrassment away and they fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important in life".
